Biography

Laura Valencia is an Adjunct Professor in the California School of Education (CSOE) at 糖心传媒, where she specializes in the Masters in School Psychology programs. With over 25 years of experience as a school psychologist within the Poway Unified School District and 15 years of teaching at the university level, Professor Valencia brings knowledge and expertise to her students. She holds a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Sociology with a minor in Child Development from San Diego State University, a Master鈥檚 in Human Behavior from National University, and a Master鈥檚 in School Psychology with a PPSP credential also from National University.

Throughout her school psychology career, Professor Valencia has served diverse student populations ranging from preschool age through high school. Her extensive field experience includes case management for students in non-public schools, day treatment facilities, and residential treatment centers. A specialist in comprehensive evaluations, she is highly proficient in conducting both standard psychoeducational assessments and complex Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) assessments. By teaching about her decades of experience, she prepares future practitioners to navigate the complexities of school psychology, mental health and advocacy for students within the educational system.
