Biography

Education has been my life! I have loved learning since being born into this world. It made sense that I would choose Education as my career. During my 40 year career I have taught all grade levels, pre-school to 8th grade, all in linguistically and culturally diverse schools. I taught in Dual Immersion and Immersion classrooms in Spanish. I recently retired from teaching middle school Science.

I spent several years as a school principal for Valle Lindo Elementary School in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. I proudly share that our school, with the support of the community and staff, began a Dual Immersion Program to promote cultural and linguistic diversity. Our school also was one of the first in our district to have a Professional Learning Community 20 years ago.

Continuing my love of learning and education, I completed my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Management and have been teaching college students ever since. I have been teaching at the university level for 14 years in a variety of courses including, Leadership, Cultural Diversity, Teaching English Learners, Health Education and Early Childhood Education.

Currently, I am training a new generation of teachers and absolutely love it! It is wonderful to see the dedication, energy and compassion that these new educators give to the profession. It gives me great joy to share my expertise and years of varied experience with these professionals. I understand the challenges of teaching full time, going to school and raising a family, so I support my students through their coursework with encouragement and faith that they can attain their goal of completing the credential program.

It is said that teachers touch the future; I will add that education is the great equalizer in society that contributes to people living a better life of informed choices.

Philosophy:
Education empowers everyone and in its innate form is not biased nor prejudicial, only uplifting and growth oriented.
